Deborah Savadge ~ My play, Surprise! was produced by The Outliners under an SPT Equity contract last summer. The cast included Marylouise Burke, Stephen Bradbury, Darrie Lawrence, Melissa Hurst and Jed Peterson. During the Pandemic my play, Covid Hits the Hamptons, was published by Plays International /Europe and produced for PANDEMONIUM on Whidbey Island, Washington. In the summer of 2018, my three-hander, The Dog in the Dressing Room, premiered at the Schoolhouse Theatre in Croton, New York. The Allowance was given a reading at The Episcopal Actors’ Guild with a cast that included Stephen Bradbury, Melissa Hurst and Lauren Winder.

Honors: Playwrights First Award, the John Golden prize, and the TheatreFest Regional Playwriting contest, finalist for the Susan Glaspell prize, one of ten finalists for the 2014 Woodward/Newman Award, for Dark at the Center; Finalist for Ashland’s New Play Festival for Calling the Tune which was performed at festivals at Penguin Rep and NuVoices; Best Play, American Globe’s 15-minute Play Festival for When We Get Her Home; First Prize, St. Croix Theatre Festival for After the Bows; Finalist: Mountain Playhouse Comedy competition for State of the Art; Finalist: Beverly Hills/Julie Harris Playwright Award for Addis Tarkington. Finalist for the Thomas Barbour Award. Four-time finalist: Heideman Award. Literary Manager: Playwrights Gallery. Member: Dramatists Guild, League of Professional Theater Women. Co-Editor: Women In Theatre Online Journal (WIT.) I started out as an actor. As a director, I staged new work by Deborah Zoe Laufer, Dan Trujillo, Deborah Yarchun, Robert Libetti, Meri Wallace, Fengar Gael, Janice Maffei, others. I was nominated for Best Director for The Network at The Barrow Group. I have directed at the Kennedy Center, on Theatre Row, for Rattlestick, East Lynne Co., TheatreWorks, NYU, Princeton Summer Theatre, others. This year I produced Insulted. Belarus on Zoom and Co-produced Put a Woman on a Pedestal, for which I was designated a City Artist. My monologue about Frances Perkins was performed by Carole Monferdini as part of StatueFest 2021.
